As mentioned on the cover of this week's Hour, the award-winning animated feature film adaptation of Marjane Satrapi's graphic novel Persepolis is coming out in Montreal next Friday (January 11th). Told in simple, evocative black and white, Persepolis is Satrapi's excellent memoir of growing up as a girl in revolutionary Iran. Want to read the book before you see the movie? We have tons of copies of The Complete Persepolis (which includes Volume 1 and 2) in store right now!
On the fiction front, I just finished reading Etgar Keret's amazing collection of super-short stories, The Nimrod Flipout, and I've been raving about it to anyone who will listen. If you like pondering the weirdness of everyday life and don't feel like starting a long, tortuous novel right now, this could be just the thing to blow your mind and snap you back into the groove...
Last but not least, for all of you Moomin maniacs out there, two words: Moomin candy. They're sweet and delicious, and they come in adorable, reusable pink or yellow tins. Enough said. (picture coming soon...)
