Omygawd it's here! The very first issue of McSweeney's quarterly journal of food writing!
Lucky Peach is a creation of David Chang, the chef behind the Momofuku (which means lucky peach in japanese) restaurants in New York, writer Peter Meehan, and Zero Point Zero Production—producers of the Emmy Award–winning Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations. Click here to find out more about this project and take a look at a sneak peek of the magazine.
I swear there's so much content in this I'm dizzy (and sooo hungry) just thinking about it. My favorite parts of this Ramen-themed issue are its uber-comprehensive guide to the regional ramen of Japan, Bigger Than You - a comic by Matthew Volz, an egg chart that shows exactly (like exactly) what happens to eggs at various temperatures, and... 22 mouth-watering recipes!
And speaking of the Lucky Peach recipes, check back here in a bit to see the D+Q staff give some of them a try and turn this place into a food blog! The goal: over-the-top fun, good eatin' and maybe something like the blog-version of the Drunk Kitchen youtube videos?
We sold close to half of our copies before we even got the word out here on the blog, so don't snooze or you'll lose.
