Montreal comics enthusiasts were in for quite a treat last
night with the launch of Christopher Irving’s LEAPING TALL BUILDINGS: THE ORIGINS OF AMERICAN COMICS. The book presents us with an overview of the medium through portrait
photography and interviews with some of the biggest names in the industry, from superhero old
timers to underground newcomers. The pictures from our camera
really don’t do justice to Seth Kushner’s superb photography, so I invite you
all to take a peek at their website, where you can browse through photographs
and read interviews with the likes of Art Spiegelman, Stan Lee, Chris Ware, Neil Gaiman, Jaime Hernandez, Jill Thomas, and so many more. Thank you
Christopher for such a fun presentation and to all of you who braved the rain
to come celebrate another great launch with us! If you weren’t able to make it
last night, no worries, you can always pick up a signed copy at the store.
Christopher talks about meeting Chris Ware in his Chicago home, accidentally
knocking over his chandelier, and then trying (unsuccessfully) to cover it up.
Jessica Abel, looking like a rock n' roll superstar.
