New books from Junot Díaz and Michael Chabon!

Oh, man...'tis truly the season for new books by heavy hitters...

Good news, a new collection of short stories from a master of the form! Díaz's follow-up to his acclaimed novel The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao is a series of stories - a segmented novel - about Yunior (who also made appearances in Diaz's previous collection Drown and in the aforementioned Oscar Wao), an American-Dominican, raised in new Jersey who now teaches in Boston. This is How You Lose Her and is a sort of catalogue of the lost loves of a serial lover. And those of us who fall heavy for Díaz's gorgeous prose will find a mother-lode here.

Some more of the hot stuff here, another new book by another esteemed Pulitzer Prize recipient...Michael Chabon!
Telegraph Avenue, his first novel since 2007's The Yiddish Policeman's Union, is the story of Archie and Nat, Californian co-owners of a record store and their wives, Gwen and Aviva, who run a midwife practice. Birth complications, the threat of a megastore opening nearby, and the arrival of Archie's unacknowledged son from a previous union provide the mechanics that drives the needle to the centre of this record.
