Pictures from Shelagh Plunkett's book launch!

Last Wednesday evening, we were thrilled to host the launch of Montreal-based writer Shelagh Plunkett's debut book, The Water Here Is Never Blue (Penguin Books). Shelagh treated us to a reading from the memoir, which chronicles her unruly teenage years spent living in Guyana and Indonesia, alongside a mysterious engineer father.

There was wine, there was cheese, there was a delightful audience of family, friends, and other book lovers.

Shelagh described her still-vivid memories of nighttime in Guyana, how the dark was somehow thicker than it was in Vancouver, her hometown. She also told us about a recent, remarkably coincidental run-in with the scariest nun from her Guyanese Catholic school - at a Guyanese event in Toronto!

Thank you to everyone who attended and made this such a lovely event!
And if you had to miss it, there are still some signed copies of the book in store. Come grab one before we run out!
