The Best American Nonrequired Reading is now ready to be read - by you!

Dave Eggers is clearly a man with his fingers in a lot of pies! In addition to writing his own recent novel (The Circle - also out this week and on our shelves) he’s also been busy editing the latest edition of The Best American Nonrequired Reading. Showcasing the year’s best and brightest American short-fiction, non-fiction, poetry and comics authors this annual collection has something to tickle the fancy of every reader.

Especially awesome is the fact that D+Q author Lynda Barry is featured this year with full-color reproductions of strips from The Freddie Stories! The fact that Barry's entry is listed in the table of contents as the "Best American Comic That Ends in Arson" is a nice touch, even if it (jokingly) implies a somewhat narrow field.

With spot-on storytelling that evokes the agonies of adolescence, everyone who's ever survived the tribulations of being a teenager will relate. Barry's place in this fine collection is well-deserved.
