New and Notable: Patrick DeWitt's Undermajordomo Minor

Undermajordomo Minor, the new novel from Canadian-born, Portland-based writer Patrick DeWitt (The Sisters Brothers, Ablutions), has been getting praise in many quarters, including the Guardian, NPR and the Washington Post.

DeWitt, known for subverting classic genres like the western, moves on to turn the tropes of the fairytale inside out. Undermajordomo Minor is a wry picaresque that follows the exploits of diminutive hero Lucien (Lucy) Minor, compulsive liar, feckless lover, and employee of the mysterious Baron Von Aux.

Out in hardcover from House of Anansi.
