New and notable: Best American Series 2015!

Although we haven’t yet seen the last of 2015, we’ve reached that delightful time of year when the annual “best of” collections begin to surface, including the always excellent Best American Series. As described on their site, “The Best American series is the premier annual showcase for the country’s finest short fiction and nonfiction. Each volume’s series editor selects notable works from hundreds of magazines, journals, and websites. A special guest editor, a leading writer in the field, then chooses the best pieces to publish. This unique system had made the Best American series the most respected — and most popular of its kind.”

Although the entire Best American 2015 roster is full of great work in short stories, infographics, essays, and more, we’re particularly fond of the Best American Comics 2015 volume, edited by Jonathan Lethem, and Bill Kartalopoulos, featuring some of our favourite cartoonists: Roz Chast, Farel Dalrymple, Julia Gfrorer, Eleanor Davis, Ed Piskor, Jim Woodring, Kevin Hooyman, Blaise Larmee, and plenty of D+Q alumni such as R. Sikoryak, Diane Obomsawin, Anders Nilsen, Gabrielle Bell, Ron Rege Jr., Peter Bagge, and Joe Sacco to name but a few!
