TONIGHT at 7pm: Amber Tamblyn Reads Dark Sparkler!

Well this is exciting! author, director and actress Amber Tamblyn is coming to Montreal to read from her acclaimed latest collection of poetry, DARK SPARKLER,  and she's coming to Librairie D+Q to do it!

DARK SPARKLER  is a surprising and provocative collection from a young artist of wide-ranging talent, culminating in an extended, confessional epilogue of astonishing candor and poetic command. It explores the lives and deaths of child star actresses -featuring subjects from Marilyn Monroe and Frances Farmer to Dana Plato and Brittany Murphy - paired with original artwork commissioned for the book by luminaries including David Lynch, Adrian Tomine, Marilyn Manson, and Marcel Dzama.

Amber Tamblyn is both an award-winning film and television actress and an acclaimed poet. As such she is deeply fascinated—and intimately familiar—with the toll exacted from young women whose lives are offered in sacrifice as starlets. The stories of these actresses, both famous and obscure-tragic stories of suicide, murder, obscurity, and other forms of death—inspired this emphatic and emotionally charged collection of new poetic work.

Joining Amber on this evening are two Montreal poets and Librairie D+Q faves: Ashley Opheim and James Winston. Both their respective books - I AM HERE and HOW TO APPEAR PERFECTLY INDIFFERENT WHILE CRYING ON THE INSIDE- are bestsellers in the shop and their independent publishing house Metatron is quickly becoming a growing concern on the North American literary scene.

There will be a reading, followed by a Q and A, and signing. Join us, won't you? For wine, and poetry and books and thoughts and times not soon forgotten.
