Tonight at 7pm: Barney Hoskyns launches SMALL TOWN TALK!

Attention music fans! Librairie D+Q is partnering with our friends at Pop Montreal and Blue Metropolis to proudly present a book launch for esteemed music historian Barney Hoskyns' new book SMALL TOWN TALK!

Small Town Talk tells Woodstock's (the town, not the festival) story from its earliest days as the bohemian arts colony to its ongoing life as a cultural satellite of New York. A classic study of a vital scene in a magical place during a revolutionary time, Small Town Talk will show us how Woodstock earned its place in history.  Dylan, The Band, Morrison, Joplin, Hendrix, Albert Grossman, Karen Dalton, Happy & Artie Traum, Tim Hardin, Todd Rundgren, Bobby Charles, everyone that was there at ground zero is in here.

Drawing on numerous first-hand interviews with the remaining key players in the scene, Hoskyns has produced an East-Coast companion to his bestselling L.A. Canyon classic Hotel California. This is a richly absorbing study of a vital music scene in a revolutionary time and place.

Joining Barney this evening in conversation will be Mitch Melnick.

Barney Hoskyns is a music historian, editorial director of the online music-journalism library Rock's Backpages and author of Hotel California,  Lowside of the Road: A Life of Tom Waits and an oral history of Led Zeppelin. he lives in London, England.
